Description:
Under a contract to USACE, the Maloney-Odin Joint Venture (MOJV) constructed an approximately 2,700-foot-long seepage berm along the west bank of the Sacramento River.
The work was conducted pursuant to Public Law (PL) 84-99, Emergency Response to Natural Disasters, which grants the USACE authority to support emergency activities to state and local governments related to flood events.
The seepage berm ranges from 40 to 80 feet wide and consists of approximately 10,000 CY of sand, 7,000 CY of drain rock, and 10,000 CY of levee fill.
The seepage berm consists of layers with 12 inches of sand, 12 inches of drain rock, 6 inches of sand, a minimum of 6 inches of levee fill, and 6 inches of topsoil. Rip rap was placed at the toe of the berm.
The project also required clearing and grubbing 20,000 SY and removing a 24-inch pipe. All materials met the specification standards prior to placement.
